01 / YOUR QUESTIONS
Joining Cedar Grove
A first look at the nursery, the days we offer and how to get in touch.
What ages do you care for?
We welcome children from 3 months to 5 years, with Babies (3–15 months), Teenies (15–24 months), Toddlers (2–3 years) and Preschool (3–5 years). Each space offers care, play and resources suited to its age group. You can explore our four rooms before arranging a visit, and talk to the team about the right starting point for your child.
When is the nursery open?
We open Monday to Friday, 7:30am–6:30pm. We close on bank holidays. We close for the Christmas and New Year period each year, with the exact dates confirmed to parents in advance. Families receive a nursery calendar when registering. You can find the same details in our opening hours and nursery dates, or ask the team about a particular date.
Can I book a full day or a half day?
Yes. We offer full-day sessions and morning or afternoon half-day sessions, subject to availability. The pattern that works for your family can be discussed with the team, including how any funded hours apply. See Fees & Funding for session times and monthly fees, then tell us the days you are looking for.
Can we visit before deciding?
Yes — a visit is a good way to see the nursery, meet the team and ask questions about your child’s needs. Request a visit with your preferred date or time. You can review your enquiry, then send it from your email app. The team will need to agree the arrangements with you; your request is not a confirmed booking.
How do I register my interest?
Use Contact & Visits to tell us a little about your child and the childcare you are looking for. Review the enquiry, then send it from your email app, or copy it to send yourself. The team can discuss availability and next steps. Registering interest does not reserve a place or complete enrolment.
How does the five-day settling programme work?
We usually begin at around one hour and increase visits gradually over five days, adjusting the pace to your child. You can stay for part of the visits and share routines and comforts. See the settling-in guide.
02 / YOUR QUESTIONS
Fees & funding
The essentials, with current prices and the full explanation one click away.
Do you offer government-funded childcare?
Yes. Eligible working parents may receive up to 30 funded hours from 9 months, and other 15-hour offers are available. Eligibility and start dates depend on the scheme. Cedar Grove uses a 51-week stretched-funding calculation while opening for 51 weeks. Our funding guide explains the schemes, eligibility checks and how funding applies to your sessions.
What is included in the fees?
For places without funded hours, fees include meals, snacks, formula milk and drinks, nappies, wipes, barrier creams, and play and learning resources. The funded monthly prices shown already include the additional charges. Funded hours are free; optional extras remain voluntary, with reasonable alternatives to discuss. See what is included and the funded-costs explanation, or ask for an itemised quote.
Is there a registration fee?
The £50 non-refundable registration fee is a one-off administration charge for enrolling your child. It must not be a condition of accessing a funded place, and statutory cancellation and refund rights still apply. See the fee information and ask the team how it applies to your booking before you agree to a place.
03 / YOUR QUESTIONS
Nursery days
Small preparations, familiar faces and plenty of time to play and discover.
What does a typical nursery day look like?
Nursery days make room for free play, adult-led activities and group experiences, outdoor exploration, meals and snacks, rest, and stories or songs together. The balance follows children’s ages, interests and needs, with flexibility for individual routines. See a day of discovery for examples of what these moments can look like, without a fixed timetable. Our typical day guide also shows the usual meal times and how routines can vary.
Do you offer settling-in sessions?
Yes. We take a gentle, flexible approach, with short visits before your child starts and time to get to know their familiar routines, comforts and interests. You may stay for part of these visits. We discuss the approach with you and adapt it to your child, rather than setting one timetable for everyone. Read about settling in at Cedar Grove.
Will my child have a key person?
Yes. Your child has a key person who gets to know their personality, interests and habits, supports their learning and wellbeing, and becomes a familiar point of contact for you. Sharing what matters at home helps us build that relationship together. Our settling-in information explains more about a gentle start and getting to know one another.
How will you keep me updated?
We share everyday handovers at drop-off and pick-up, alongside photos and updates through Famly, our nursery app. There are also opportunities to discuss learning and development, and we contact you when something needs attention. Please share any changes or questions with us too. Read about keeping in touch, or ask the team how updates will work for your family.
What should my child bring?
Please pack a full change of clothes — or two — clothing for the weather, and a familiar comfort item if your child uses one. Any prescribed creams or medicines should be labelled and discussed with the team, including written permission. Our packing guide also lists what nursery provides, so you can prepare without bringing more than you need.
When are meals, and can we see the menu?
Breakfast finishes at 8:30am, snack is around 10:00am, lunch at 11:30am and tea at 4:00pm. Routines can vary, especially for babies. Ask the team for the current menu and discuss dietary needs before starting. More about food and nutrition.
04 / YOUR QUESTIONS
Care & reassurance
Working together around the things that matter to your child and your family.
What about meals, allergies or dietary needs?
We provide meals and snacks, with milk and water available during the nursery day. Please tell us about allergies, intolerances, dietary needs and preferences before your child starts, and whenever something changes, so we can discuss suitable arrangements together. Find out more about food and everyday care, or ask for our food and allergy policy.
What if my child is unwell or needs medication?
If your child becomes unwell at nursery, we will contact you. Please keep your contact details and your child’s health information up to date. Prescribed medication requires written permission and is managed through our medication procedure. For attendance, collection and medicine arrangements, please speak to the team and read the illness and medication information.
Is there outdoor space?
Yes. Our secure garden has soft play surfaces, play equipment and space for bikes, messy play and exploration. Outdoor opportunities are part of nursery life, with activities adapted to children’s ages, needs and the conditions. Please pack clothing that helps your child join in comfortably. You can explore our garden on the Our Rooms page.
Can we talk about additional support for my child?
Of course. Please tell us about your child’s needs, strengths and the support that helps them, so we can discuss care and reasonable adjustments together. We aim to work in partnership with families, without making assumptions about what a child needs. Read our inclusion information or start a conversation with the team.
Does the nursery use CCTV?
Yes. CCTV is used at the nursery for safeguarding, including at entrances and in outdoor areas. If you would like to understand the coverage, access to recordings or how footage is handled, please ask the manager. You can also read our privacy information or contact the team.
Where can I find policies or raise a concern?
Our Policies page introduces the key areas of nursery care; ask the manager for the full policies or complaints procedure. If something worries you, please speak to the manager or get in touch. Read our Parent Terms & Conditions. Our privacy information covers personal information and your rights.
Where is our family’s nursery information stored?
We use Famly to store relevant nursery records and connect with families. Cedar Grove is responsible for how it uses those records, and Famly processes them on our behalf. We retain records in line with applicable EYFS, Ofsted, safeguarding and other legal requirements. Read our privacy information and Famly’s policies.
