THE RHYTHM OF NURSERY LIFE

Time to discover.
Time to be.

A predictable rhythm helps children feel secure, with flexibility for their interests, energy and individual care needs. This is an example of a nursery day, rather than a fixed timetable for every child.

  1. From 7:30am

    Arrival and a familiar welcome

A handover with your family, time to settle and a choice of familiar play. Breakfast finishes at 8:30am.

  2. Through the morning

    Play, discovery and fresh air

Children follow interests, share books and songs, join adult-supported experiences and explore outdoors as conditions allow.

  3. Around 10:00am

    Morning snack

A pause for a snack, a drink and conversation, with support for independent choices.

  4. 11:30am

    Lunch together

Freshly prepared food, an unhurried social experience and support suited to each child.

  5. After lunch

    Rest, naps or quieter play

Children who need sleep are supported to rest. Others can enjoy calm activities, stories or quiet exploration.

  6. Through the afternoon

    More time to explore

Creative play, construction, movement, outdoor learning and time to revisit the day’s discoveries.

  7. 4:00pm

    Tea

Another opportunity to enjoy food together, practise everyday skills and talk about the day.

  8. Until 6:30pm

    Winding down and home time

Familiar play and a personal handover help connect the nursery day with the evening at home.

Your child’s rhythm matters.

Times and experiences can vary. Babies’ feeding, sleep and comfort routines are agreed with families and respond to individual needs throughout the day. Older children also need different amounts of rest and support. We adapt the balance of play, care and group experiences, rather than expecting everyone to do the same thing at once.

Morning sessions run from 7:30am to 1:00pm; afternoon sessions from 1:00pm to 6:30pm. Your child takes part in the experiences within their booked session.
